AsignificantnumberofcreditinstitutionsintheEUapplytheIFRSStandardswhichwilleventuallyrequirethemeasurementofimpairmentlossprovisionstobebasedonanexpectedcreditlossaccountingmodelratherthanonanincurredlossaccountingmodel.TheEBAwelcomesthisapproachoncreditlossprovisioning,asitshouldalsocontributeinaddressingtheG20'sconcernsabouttheissueofthe‘toolittle,toolate'recognitionofcreditlossesandimprovetheaccountingrecognitionofcreditlossesbyincorporatingabroaderrangeofcreditinformation.
