Companiesengagedinoutsourcingmustadequatelymanagetheircontractsandtheirongoingrelationshipswiththird-partyproviderstoensuresuccess.Somemightfindthattheresourcesdevotedtomanagingthoserelationshipsrivalstheresourcesdevotedtothetasksthatwereoutsourced,therebypossiblynegatingmany,ifnotall,ofthebenefitssoughtbyoutsourcing. Companiesalsocouldrealizethattheylosecontroloveraspectsoftheoutsourcedtasksorservices.Forinstance,acompanycouldlosecontroloverthequalityofcustomerserviceprovidedwhenitoutsourcesits callcenter function;evenifthecompany'scontractwiththeproviderstipulatescertainqualitymeasures,thecompanymightfindit'smoredifficulttocorrectanoutsourcedproviderthanitwouldbetocorrectanin-houseteam.
