ThisfeatureallowsmobiledevicetoexchangedatabetweenitselfandNRbasestationalongwith simultaneousconnectionwithLTEbasestation.Thisispossiblewhenthereistight interworkingbetweenLTEand5GNRbasestationhasbeenestablished. Inthisdualconnectivitymode,UEmaybesimultaneouslyconnectedtoLTEandNRor toLTEforcontrolplaneandNRforuserplane.Inthisdualconnectivityfeature,UEleverages benefitsofbothLTEand5Gconnectivitysimultaneously. ControlPlane: • TosetupandmodifytheEN-DCoperation,amobiledevicemustcomprehendboththeLTEand NRRRCcontrolsignaling. • TotransporttheseRRCmessagesbetweenthenetworkandamobiledevice, asetofsignalingradiobearers(SRBs)areused: • MasterCellGroup(MCG)SRB(SRB1,SRB2): • SplitSRB(SRB1+SRB1S,SRB2+SRB2S) • SecondaryCellGroup(SCG)SRB(SRB3) UserPlane: • Whenitcomestotheuserplane,wheretheuserdataistransported betweenthenetworkandamobiledevice,dataradiobearers(DRBs)areused. EN-DCsupportMCGDRBs,MCGsplitDRBsandSCGDRBs • AnadditionaldataradiobearerSCGsplitDRBhasbeenintroducedinEN-DC.
